For "Get Authorization Header" Chrome Extension

Effective Date: May 24, 2025
Last Updated: May 24, 2025

Hi there! I'm Aminul Zisan, the developer behind the "Get Authorization Header" Chrome extension. Your privacy matters to me, so I've designed this tool to be both helpful and respectful of your data.

1. What Information We Handle

The extension works with these types of data:

  • Authorization Headers: Captures HTTP Authorization headers from network requests in your current tab. Everything stays in your browser - nothing is transmitted externally.
  • Session Storage: Temporarily stores headers in your browser's memory (sessionStorage) for the active tab only. Vanishes when you close the tab.
  • Local Extension Storage: May cache non-sensitive icon assets locally to improve performance. Doesn't interact with your browsing data.
Important: I don't collect, store long-term, or transmit any personal information, browsing history, or authorization headers. Everything remains on your device.

2. How We Use This Information

  • Display Functionality: Shows the authorization header in the extension's popup interface for your reference.
  • Copy Feature: Lets you copy headers to your clipboard for API testing in tools like Postman or Insomnia.

That's the complete extent of functionality - no tracking, analytics, or hidden processes.

3. Data Storage and Security

  • Headers exist only temporarily in memory and disappear with your tab
  • No activity logs or records are created
  • Any local storage is strictly for performance optimization

Your data never leaves your computer under any circumstances.

4. Permission Justifications

The extension requests only what's essential:

  • activeTab & scripting: Required to monitor requests in your current tab
  • host_permissions: Needed to work across different websites you're developing on
  • storage: Used only for caching non-sensitive assets

5. Third-Party Services

The extension operates independently with no external integrations or data sharing.

6. Children's Privacy

As a developer tool, this extension isn't intended for children and doesn't collect information from any users.

7. Policy Changes

Any updates will be posted here with a revised "Last Updated" date. While I don't expect major changes, periodic review is recommended.
